Welcome to our cohort-based birth class:
Better Birth Together is designed and taught by the collaboration of Sue Damgaard MPH, RNC-OB and Ariel Zablocki PT, DPT. Over a series of 4 classes and a postpartum meet-up, you and other families from the Eastern Sierra will learn together, grow together, and enter your birth prepared to move with the experience.
This class is for you if you:
-You are currently pregnant
-Have interest in learning how to physically prepare for a smooth labor and birth if you have a history of high physical activity
-Want to learn how to prepare your mind and heart, together with your partner, to have a meaningful and connective birth
-Have no restrictions from your doctor or midwife that prevent you from performing gentle exercises
In this intensive birth class, you'll:
-Cultivate the birth experience you want through evidence based movement techniques
-Follow a systematic guide to self knowing and self care for both you and your partner
-Be educated on what happens in your body during labor
-Become comfortable with manual techniques as a birth partner to create ease during pregnancy and labor
-Receive guidance for critical decision making points to center your priorities as a couple
-Discuss life, home, and relationship after the baby is born
-Come together to integrate your birth experience into your life
Specifically, you'll learn:
-what to expect during your birth-how your body is opening and changing
-a comprehensive series of exercises to prepare your active body for birth
-what your priorities and needs are as you write your birth plan
-a tour of the labor and delivery unit at your local hospital where you will give birth
-coping techniques and options for you and your partner to utilize during your labor
-an opportunity to process your birth with your cohort after your birth
